Do you offer one way rentals?

Jucy Rentals offers one-way rentals between all our locations (Auckland City, Auckland Airport, Christchurch & Queesntown).  Minimum hire periods & relocation fees may apply over high season.

Do I have to pay a deposit when making a booking?

Here at Jucy rentals we like to make the whole booking process simple.  For our smaller vehicles there is NO DEPOSIT required to secure a booking!  On our larger vehicles and campas we do require a 20% deposit to secure the booking which is fully refundable providing you cancel 5 days prior to pick up.

What is included in the rates on your website?

Our rates include unlimited mileage, GST Tax, standard insurance & free 24 hour Roadside assistance provided by AA.

What is Road User Diesel Tax?

In New Zealand everyone who owns or hires a diesel vehicle must pay a government tax called diesel tax.  This is NZ$3.95 per 100km for campas.   This is calculated and charged on the return of your vehicle.

What is the minimum driver age?

Jucy Rentals hires to 18 years plus as long as you have a full & valid drivers licence.  For drivers under 21 the standard insurance excess is slightly higher – but the per day rate is the same as if you were over 21!

What happens if I breakdown?

In the unfortunate event your vehicle breaks down and we cannot get this fixed within a reasonable time frame or it is not fixable Jucy Rentals will get a replacement vehicle to you within 24 hours!

Can you guarantee an automatic or manual vehicle?

We have certain groups that have mixed transmission types which cannot be guaranteed – only request.  However several of our vehicle categories only come in automatic or manual so if you need one or the other there is definitely something we can do to help you!  Below is a list of our vehicles and their transmission types:-

Can I leave a vehicle in Wellington/Picton and pick another up on the other side to avoid taking the vehicle across on the ferry?

Here at Jucy Rentals we do not have offices in Wellington or Picton so this is not possible with us.  We find it much easier for clients to take the vehicle across on the ferry as this saves time changing over vehicles, transferring luggage and doing new contracts!  This way you can just drive on – enjoy your ferry crossing – and drive off on arrival to continue your adventure!  Jucy Rentals offers very competitive ferry rates for their clients so please contact our reservations team on res@jucy.co.nz for discounted ferry rates.

Can I pick up or drop off a vehicle after hours?

Yes!  We do offer a late pick up and early drop off service from our Auckland Airport and Christchurch Airport offices (cars only).  There is a NZ$30.00 fee to collect a vehicle after hours plus the airport car parking charges & a NZ$15.00 fee to return a vehicle after hours.  If you are collecting a vehicle after hours our reservations team will email you through a late pick up form which you will need to complete and fax back to us prior to your pick up date to ensure a vehicle is left for you.

What happens if I return my vehicle early?

If you return your Jucy ride earlier than expected there is no refund.  If you have to go home because of an emergency your own personal travel insurance should cover this.

I don’t have a credit card, does Jucy Rentals accept cash bonds?

Jucy Rentals no longer accepts cash bonds.  Everyone who hires a vehicle through Jucy Rentals must have a credit card for insurance bond/security.

If I want to extend my vehicle is this possible?

If you are on the road with one of our Jucy vehicles you can call our reservations team to request an extension if you would like to keep your vehicle a few more days.  If this is authorised this will be at the same per day rate of your original booking.  Please note that ALL EXTENTIONS ARE SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY AND MUST BE AUTHORISED BY OUR RESERVATIONS TEAM.  If the vehicle is not available for extension it must be returned to the correct location on the correct date.  Failure to do so may result in a fee up to $500.

Do you do hotel pick up/drop offs?

Jucy Rentals offers a free pick up service from all central city hotels/backpackers in Auckland City, Christchurch and Queenstown.  All free transfers must be pre booked by contacting our reservations team at least 48 hours in advance.  We do not offer drop offs back to hotels, however are happy to organise a shuttle or taxi to take you back to your accommodation.  Jucy Rentals at Auckland Airport and Christchurch Airport do free pick up and drop off services to and from the Airports & these do not need to be pre booked.
